By participating in TechCommons Hacks V2: Hacks to Inspire, participants agree to the following rules:
- Eligibility: The hackathon is open to school-aged students. Participants may compete individually or in teams of up to 4 members.
- Original Work: Projects must be created primarily during the hackathon period. Participants may use existing libraries, frameworks, APIs, datasets, and open-source resources, provided their use complies with applicable licences and is appropriately acknowledged.
- AI Tools: Generative AI and AI-assisted development tools are permitted. Participants remain responsible for understanding, explaining, and demonstrating their submitted project. Use of AI should be disclosed where relevant.
- Submission: All projects must be submitted through the official submission platform before the stated deadline. Late or incomplete submissions may not be eligible for judging.
- Project Requirements: Submissions must include the required project description, prototype or demonstration, source code where applicable, and demo video.
- Intellectual Property: Participants retain ownership of the work they create. By submitting, participants permit TechCommons to display and promote their project, including its name, description, screenshots, and demo materials, for hackathon-related purposes.
- Third-Party Content: Participants must have permission to use any copyrighted material, datasets, images, software, or other third-party resources included in their project.
- Fair Competition: Plagiarism, submitting another person's work as your own, falsifying project information, or otherwise attempting to gain an unfair advantage may result in disqualification.
- Appropriate Projects: Projects must not contain illegal, discriminatory, harassing, sexually explicit, or otherwise inappropriate content, or be designed to cause harm.
- Judging: Projects will be assessed according to the published judging criteria. Decisions made by the judging panel regarding prizes and results are final.
- Team Membership: A participant may only be part of one competing team and may only contribute to one submitted project.
- Conduct: Participants are expected to treat other participants, organisers, mentors, and judges respectfully. Harassment, intimidation, discrimination, or disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated.
- Rule Violations: TechCommons reserves the right to investigate suspected rule violations and disqualify submissions where necessary to maintain a fair and safe competition.
- Changes: TechCommons may make reasonable changes to the hackathon schedule, rules, judging process, or prizes where circumstances require it. Any significant changes will be communicated to participants.
